Fogged or failed dual-pane
Condensation between the panes, or a cloudy or milky look that will not wipe off. That is a failed seal, not dirt on the glass. One window can be the whole job.

Homeowner questions
How long does a window replacement take?
A typical opening is a few hours once the unit is on site. A whole-house package is usually measured in days, not weeks — the schedule depends on opening count, access, and whether we are doing retrofit or full-frame. We give you the install window when we quote the specific job.
Do you clean up?
Yes. Old units and packaging leave with the crew the same day.
Can you replace just one window, or does it have to be the whole house?
One window is a real job — especially a failed dual-pane or a single opening that no longer seals. Whole-house packages are common too. There is no artificial minimum; we size the visit to the openings you need done.
Do I need a permit?
It depends on the city and the scope. In San Jose, a like-for-like retrofit often does not need a building permit; full-frame work, framing changes, historic properties, and some other cities do. We tell you what your address requires and coordinate the paperwork so the units meet current code. Longer version: Title 24 and Low-E glass.
What is Title 24 and do I have to worry about it?
Short version: it is California's energy code, the requirements have been getting stricter, and which requirements apply to you depends on which of the state's sixteen climate zones your house sits in. We specify to the current code so the units pass inspection. Longer version: Title 24 and Low-E glass.
How long until my windows arrive?
Lead times move by manufacturer and by series, so we give you the current figure on the specific line you are choosing rather than a number that goes stale.
What if my openings aren't square?
Most aren't, especially in older South Bay housing. That's what the measure visit is for, and it's why we measure rather than working off the size you tell us over the phone.
Do I have to be home?
Someone needs to give access for measure and for install. You do not have to stand over the crew all day — we work room by room, protect floors, and walk the finished openings with you before we leave.
